INGLOT opened its first store in Liffey Valley Shopping Centre in July 2009. With a rapidly growing fan base and innovative make-up range, new stores opened in Dundrum Town Centre, Blanchardstown Shopping Centre, Jervis Street Shopping Centre, a “Pro Store” on South Anne Street and the Crescent Shopping Centre in Limerick.

INGLOT required the design and development of an ecommerce solution, aimed at its consumer and professional customers based in Ireland (including Northern Ireland).
It was identified that the equivalent international websites were somewhat inconsistent, when it comes to the quality of design and user experience. INGLOT’s online aspirations were reflected in websites operated by their counterparts in the USA and The Netherlands.

INGLOT engaged Software Design to design and develop their new eCommerce store in May 2014. Software Design’s proven methodology for the design and development of ecommerce projects was a key to the successful delivery of the INGLOT ecommerce project.
The project commenced at the end of June 2014 with a kick off meeting, to introduce INGLOT to the project team and outline key roles, responsibilities and milestones. The success of an eCommerce project requires the collaboration of all stakeholders; nobody knows their business or customers better than the client. INGLOT took a hands approach providing valuable insights and research into their target market and customer requirements. A well-defined and focused brief from the client got the project off to a great start.
The “Discovery” phase of the project involved getting a documented and agreed set of the project requirements, goals & expectations. A clear understanding of the business and customer requirements was essential to identifying the key information needed to design the solution. A detailed brief ensured that everyone has a clear understanding of the project requirements and the solutions required – this formed the foundation for the technical and functional specification of the ecommerce store.
Once “Discovery” was complete, the “Design & Specification” phase began. There’s a lot to cover when building an eCommerce store and it is vital that store owners are made aware of, and implement, best practice and industry standards. The brief covered everything from design, development, configuration, payments, security, deployment, hosting, fulfillment and marketing requirements for the new store. Documentation covering competitor analysis, information architecture, Site Navigation and Structure, Prototyping and Usability Testing, Features and Functionality is produced.
When the “Design & Specification” was complete, the “Visual Design” phase began with a Design Brief. Building on the knowledge gleaned from the previous phases our design team created a professional look and feel for the INGLOT store. The design phase involved creating high fidelity design concepts of the homepage and key inner pages. Once this phase was completed INGLOT had a view of how the final store would look.
The project then entered the “Development” phase where the project was built to the agreed design & specifications, core features and functionality are implemented to yield a fully functional product. This involved bringing all the designs and specifications together with database development, application coding and integration with third party software and systems.
We deliver turnkey ecommerce solutions so the next phase involved loading and configuration product data. INGLOT’s products, data and images were modelled and imported. The store was configured to support best sellers, cross sells, up sells, social media, reviews and ratings.
Once the online store was built and products imported, it was deployed to our test servers for testing. This test environment was made available to INGLOT for their own internal User Acceptance testing prior to being deployed to the live servers.
The store was deployed to Rackspace Cloud Servers. Rackspace is a Platinum Magento Hosting Partner that provides optimised hosting environments’ for Magento eCommerce stores. Software Design provided all the necessary technical expertise to set up, configure and deploy the INGLOT store on Rackspace’s servers.
